  1. The camouflaged patterns of most female birds has bothered my mother-in-law (who is now 100!) for many years, because she thinks that the females should always be prettier birds. The fact that mama-bird usually is vulnerable while tending the nestlings, and thus benefits form dull camo hues, doesn’t seem to satisfy her. But at least the belted kingfisher female has a little more color than the male has — proving that God did it that way whenever he wanted to.
