Genesis 1:24 And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so. 25 And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
AT THE COMMAND OF THE ALMIGHTY, HE EMERGED…
The light that had broken forth at the Creator’s word was now sending golden shafts across the landscape. The face of the waters that the Spirit of God had moved upon were now blanketed in sunrise mists and vapors. And when those words of creative power were spoken, “Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind,” he arose; with a crown of dignity and strength upon his brow, inaugurated as one of the kings among beasts. He walked forth in pride and confidence to be named by Adam: chief of the Roebuck kind.

She shares the different names for this type of critter from our Lord and the many verses that mention them. Sometimes called Hart, Hind, Fallow-deer, and Roe-buck. Today, just Deer is a more common name for them.

Also, Isaiah 35:1-6 tells us more about the deer leaping to encourage the lame that they will also one day leap for joy.
“The wilderness and the desert will be glad, And the Arabah will rejoice and blossom; Like the crocus It will blossom profusely And rejoice with rejoicing and shout of joy. The glory of Lebanon will be given to it, The majesty of Carmel and Sharon. They will see the glory of the LORD, The majesty of our God. Encourage the exhausted, and strengthen the feeble. Say to those with anxious heart, “Take courage, fear not. Behold, your God will come with vengeance; The recompense of God will come, But He will save you.” Then the eyes of the blind will be opened And the ears of the deaf will be unstopped. Then the lame will leap like a deer, And the tongue of the mute will shout for joy. For waters will break forth in the wilderness And streams in the Arabah.” (NASB)
Several animals of the deer kind are mentioned in the Bible under the names of Fallow-deer, Hart, Hind, and Roe-buck. They were all numbered among the clean animals, or those which the Israelites were allowed to eat; as we see in Deut. 14:4, 5,
These are the beasts which ye shall eat; the ox, the sheep, the goat, the hart, the roe-buck and the fallow-deer.
